OUR HIGH-QUALITY HAY >
We buy our hay directly from a quality farm in Manitoba and have it shipped by rail to Florida. Bales average 50 to 65 lbs. and are a nice mix of timothy and alfalfa. Other hay types may be available upon special request.
At an additional charge, delivery is available to west central Florida counties of Pasco, Hillsborough, and Hernando counties. Other areas may be available to large quantity sales.
Excerpt from the January 2000 issue of the National Hay Association's "Hay There" Magazine:
"Determining a good hay is an art, but there are some basics you can look for when making a purchase. The hay itself should have a uniform color and texture with lots of leaves or blades and little stems. It should have a nice sweet smell and shouldn't be dusty or moldy. The hay should be dry throughout with minimal weeds and dirt present. A good rule of thumb on the quality of your hay is how well your horses are eating it. Good hay tends to get cleaned up quickly while poor-quality hay tends to be left or take longer to eat."
